A. By default, console windows use the standard Raster font and Lucinda Console. It’s possible to add fonts as options, but the fonts must meet the following criteria: The font must be a non-italic, fixed-pitch font, and it can’t have a negative A or C space. If it’s a True Type font, it must be FF_MODERN; if it isn’t a TrueType font, it must be OEM_CHARSET.

By default, with the exception of Lucinda Console and Consolas, the other fonts won’t work with the console. However, you can download console type fonts, then add them with the following procedure: Start a registry editor (eregedit.exe), and go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Console\TrueTypeFont subkey. From the Edit menu, select New, String value. Enter a value name 00 if the value is currently 0, or 000 if the value is currently 0 and 00. Essentially, value names have to be zeroes, adding a 0 for each entry. Set the data in the value to the name of the font, and click OK. Close the registry editor.
